Organisational behaviour BBA 2nd yr , equal employment opportunity
Introduction
"Equal employment opportunity"
The equal employment opportunity is a matter of concern for most of the organizations today. The concept of equal opportunities refers to providing same or equal chances of job and career to every individual irrespective of their gender, caste, religion, nationality or ethnicity. = It is a well known fact that humans have emotions and hence, they can be subjective and partial in their decisions. This can happen in the recruitment, promotion, transfer and such other functions of an organization. The concept of equal employment opportunities tries to reduce if not remove this biasness as much as possible so that there is justice served to every individual in terms of career opportunities.
The equal employment opportunities pro-vide protection to the weaker and minority sec-tion of the population in job opportunities and give them a chance to secure jobs on the basis of their education, qualification, skills, talent and capabilities. Under this concept no employer or organization can reject a potential, qualified and appropriate candidate on the basis of his/her gender, caste, religion, colour or any other characteristics. Almost every country has its own regulatory body who ensures the application of this concept and in case of any violation the victim or the aggrieved party may complain to the regulatory body.

3. Customer satisfac-tion
4. Dedicated and satis-fied employees
5. Promotes diversity
6. Acquision and retention of best talent
1. Improves the Recruitment: Recruit-ment is the process of creating a pool of talented candidates that can be hired by the organization. When an organization opens its gates to all potential candidates without any discrimination then, it is able to create a larger and better pool of potential candidates which gives the organization a chance to select better candidate.
2. Strong brand image:
When the society knows that an organization is making efforts in being fair and honest in providing employment to people then, it creates a strong brand image of the organization. People link that organization with being fair, honest and ethical in its practices which increases the overall value of the organization
3. Customer satisfaction:
When an organization selects its employees only on the basis of their merit and not on any other biased basis, it is able to get such employees who are skilled and capable. Such employees can serve the customers in a better way and can improve the overall quality of the products and services of the organization.
4. Dedicated and satisfied employees: When an organization follows the concept of equal employment opportunity, the employees
working there are more satisfied with their organization. They understand that they are selected in the organization on the basis of merit not on any biasness which means the organization trusts them and knows their value. So the employees are loyal towards the organization and work with dedication and sincerity.
5. Promotes diversity: When people are
selected in an organization on a uniform and impartial basis then the organization has a culturally diverse workforce. The employees are motivated and thus it becomes easier to manage the culturally diverse workforce. The employees learn to respect each other irrespective of their backgrounds because they know that everyone is here because of their talent and hard work and not any kind of biasness.
6. Acquision and retention of best talent: When an organization adopts the concept of equal employment opportunity, it is able to hire the best talents as the selections are done on the basis of merit without any pressure. The employees are talented, hard working and satisfied with the organization which makes their retention easy for the organization. As the employees know that their career in the organization will depend only on their performance and not on any biasness or discrimination; they tend to remain in the organization and perform better.
